[Acute hematogenous osteomyelitis and purulent arthritis in childhood. A 10-year study from the county of Copenhagen with a follow-up].

Introduction: The proper treatment of patients with acute haematogenous osteomyelitis and acute suppurative arthritis is still controversial. Based on a previous study, a treatment regimen was recommended. We now report on the clinical, bacteriological, and radiological aspects of the diseases, with special attention to possible changes in the natural history of the diseases and the long-term prognosis.

A comparison between nebulized terbutaline, nebulized corticosteroid and systemic corticosteroid for acute wheezing in children up to 18 months of age.

One hundred and twenty-three children, aged 1.5-18 months, participated in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled multicentre study comparing different treatments for acute wheezing. The children were admitted to one of five participating paediatric departments.

[Toxic shock syndrome. A case of a child with burns].

A case of the toxic shock syndrome (TSS) in a burnt (scalded) child is presented. TSS is a condition most frequently associated with menstruating women using tampons. In recent years, however, increased knowledge of the syndrome has led to an increase in the number of reported cases associated with other clinical situations.
