Oversedation has adverse effects on critically ill patients. The Analgosedation and Delirium Committee of the FEPIMCTI (Pan-American and Iberian Federation of Critical Care Medicine and Intensive Care) conducted a cross-sectional study through a survey addressed to ICU physicians: PANDEMIC (Pan-American and Iberian Study on the Management of Analgosedation and Delirium in Critical Care [fepImCti]). HYPOTHESIS: Worsening of these practices in the course of the pandemic and that continued afterwards, with further oversedation.

Toluidine blue O (TBO) is a type I-type II photosensitizer that has shown good efficacy and selectivity in antimicrobial and anticancer photodynamic therapy applications. However, its complex photochemistry with multiple photoproducts hinders its application as a photosensitizer. We have previously described the mechanism for photooxidative demethylation of TBO which in acetonitrile yields two main products: demethylated-TBO (d-TBO) and double-demethylated-TBO (dd-TBO).

Objective: To investigate the effectiveness of virtual reality-based therapy (VRBT) after total hip arthroplasty (THA).

Methods: PubMed, SCOPUS, WOS, PEDro and CINAHL were consulted for results up to April 2024. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that assessed the effectiveness of VRBT (physical and cognitive videogames) in patients after THA were included.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study explored how serum neurofilament light chain (sNfL) and glial fibrillary acidic protein (sGFAP) levels could predict worsening disability in multiple sclerosis (MS), enrolling 725 patients across 13 European hospitals from 1994 to 2023.
  • - Higher levels of sNfL were significantly associated with increased risks of relapse-associated worsening (RAW), progression independent of relapse activity (PIRA), and reaching an Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) score of 3, while elevated sGFAP levels were linked to a higher risk of reaching the EDSS score.
  • - Combining both sNfL and sGFAP levels indicated that low values represented low risk for worsening

: Cerebral Autosomal Dominant Arteriopathy with Subcortical Infarcts and Leukoencephalopathy (CADASIL) is a hereditary small vessel disease leading to significant morbidity and mortality. Despite advances in genetic diagnosis, the underlying pathophysiology remains incompletely understood. Proteomic studies offer insights into disease mechanisms by identifying altered protein expression patterns.
