Introduction: Benznidazole, the drug of choice for treating Chagas Disease (CD), has significant limitations, such as poor cure efficacy, mainly in the chronic phase of CD, association with side effects, and parasite resistance. Understanding parasite resistance to benznidazole is crucial for developing new drugs to treat CD.

Rotavirus is recognised as the most important agent of severe acute gastroenteritis (AGE) in young children. In a 2-year prospective survey, we investigated the epidemiology and clinical features of the viral and bacterial pathogens in children hospitalised for AGE. The study was performed in a Parisian teaching hospital from November 2001 to May 2004.

Primary sternal osteomyelitis: a report of two cases with literature review.

Primary sternal osteomyelitis is a rare disease in children caused mainly by Staphylococcus aureus. We describe 2 cases resulting from Streptococcus pneumonia and Candida albicans. On the basis of these cases and other documented case reports, we discuss the pathogens, clinical course, and pathophysiology and suggest a management protocol based on early debridement to initiate appropriate antibiotic therapy and shorten hospitalization.
