Ancient microbial genomes can illuminate pathobiont evolution across millenia, with teeth providing a rich substrate. However, the characterization of prehistoric oral pathobiont diversity is limited. In Europe, only preagricultural genomes have been subject to phylogenetic analysis, with none compared to more recent archaeological periods.

Psychological dread and extreme persistent fear.

Psychological dread is a phenomenon with which virtually everyone is familiar, whether dreading a medical appointment, a job interview, or the impending death of a loved one. Despite the prevalence of dread in most people's everyday lives, surprisingly little empirical research has explored the construct. The purpose of the current research was to examine psychological dread (Study 1 and Study 2) and to compare dread to extreme persistent fear (Study 2).

Postoperative Bleeding Complications Associated With Novel Oral Anticoagulants in Mohs Micrographic Surgery.

Background: Novel oral anticoagulants (NOACs) are commonly prescribed, recently developed anticoagulants, but limited data exist on NOAC-related bleeding complications in Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS).

Objective: To assess the risk of postoperative bleeding in patients taking NOACs compared with patients taking no antithrombotic medications.

Methods/materials: A 5-year retrospective chart review of all MMS cases performed by a single surgeon was conducted.
