Background: The COVID-19 pandemic impacted healthcare resource allocation and utilization of preventative medical services. It is unknown if there is resultant stage migration of melanoma, breast, and colorectal cancer when comparing extended time periods before and after the pandemic onset.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study of melanoma, breast, and colorectal cancer patients was completed.

Aim: In the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass technique, classic laparoscopic surgical retractors are usually rigid, require an additional incision for its installation, or must be handled by an assistant during the surgical procedure, involving a risk of liver injury. The aim of this study was to evaluate and validate a technique of the esophagogastric junction exposure obtained by the flexible liver retractor in bariatric surgery, comparing its efficacy with the retractor classically used for this purpose.

Methods: This study was performed as a randomized, open, prospective, controlled, and comparative design in patients with medical indications of bariatric surgery.

The objective of this study was to examine the effects of extrinsic or intrinsic acids on nanofilled and bulk fill resin materials in vitro. A total of 90 disks were prepared using dental restorative material (Filtek Z350XT, GrandioSO, Filtek Bulk Fill, X-tra fil). Thirty disks of each material were sub-divided into three groups (n = 10) that were immersed for 7 days in deionized water (DW), 5% citric acid (CA-pH 2.

This study evaluated the effect of a 2% chlorhexidine-based disinfectant (CHX) on the short-term resin-dentin bond strength of a self-etch adhesive system to human dentin with different mineral contents. Dentinal mineralization was tested at 4 levels (sound, and after 2, 4, or 8 days of demineralization-remineralization cycles) and disinfectant at 2 levels [deionized water (DW, negative control) and CHX]. Dentin demineralization induced by pH-cycling was characterized by cross-sectional hardness (CSH).

Although several alleles of susceptibility to Alzheimer's disease (AD) have been studied in the last decades, few polymorphisms have been considered as risk factors for the disease. Among them, the APOE-e4 allele appears to be the major genetic risk factor for the onset of the disease. However, it is important to confirm the potential susceptibility of these genetic variants in different populations in order to establish a genetic profile for the disease in specific communities.
