Among Mygalomorphae spiders, the family Idiopidae is the second most diverse, consisting exclusively of trapdoor spiders and is divided into three subfamilies: Arbanitinae, Genysinae, and Idiopinae. The subfamily Idiopinae, distinguished mainly by anterior lateral eyes that project forward, includes 153 species across seven genera, distributed throughout South America, Africa, and parts of Asia. Within this subfamily, the genus Idiops includes the greatest diversity and is the only genus recorded in both the New and Old Worlds.

This paper presents the design and implementation of an Anti-Finger Roll-Up (AFRU) mechanism for a cable-driven grasp assistance exoskeleton. Finger rollup describes the premature flexion of the distal and proximal interphalangeal joints relative to the metacarpophalangeal joint as a result of a cable pulling directly on the fingertip. This leads to unstable pinching grasps or grasps that place the target object outside of the grasp envelope.

Amyloid proteins have long been in the spotlight for being involved in many degenerative diseases including Alzheimer´s, Parkinson´s or type 2 diabetes, which currently cannot be prevented and for which there is no effective treatment or cure. Here we provide a comprehensive review of inhibitors that act directly on the amyloidogenic pathway (at the monomer, oligomer or fibril level) of key pathological amyloids, focusing on the most representative amyloid-related diseases. We discuss the latest advancements in preclinical and clinical trials, focusing on cutting-edge developments, particularly on nanomaterials-based inhibitors, which offer unprecedented opportunities to address the complexity of protein misfolding disorders and are revolutionizing the landscape of anti-amyloid therapeutics.

Background: Gut microbiota-derived urolithins may influence multiple myeloma (MM) disease progression and treatment. We analyzed urolithins and their associated microbiota in a retrospective cohort of 45 patients with active MM or premalignant disease using mass spectrometry and 16S rRNA gene sequencing.

Results: Patients with detectable levels of urolithin in serum and stool and a higher abundance of urolithin-related microbiota had a better outcome.
