Extensive misalignment of plate-haptic rotationally asymmetric multifocal toric intraocular lens.

Purpose: Plate-haptic rotationally asymmetric multifocal toric intraocular lenses (IOL) (Lentis Comfort Toric) occasionally rotate extensively after surgery. We conducted the current study to investigate the incidence of extensive misalignment of this IOL and its association with clinical parameters.

Study Design: Retrospective case series.

A Counter Prechop Technique Using a Modified Universal Prechopper in Combination with or without Using a Universal Chopper.

Purpose: To introduce an alternative prechop technique without or with the use of a modified universal chopper (AE-2591, HI Kim chopper, ASICO, Inc. USA).

Methods: Patients who underwent cataract surgery using the phaco-chop technique and the modified prechop technique have been grouped and reviewed retrospectively.

The Mood-Improving Effect of Viewing Images of Nature and Its Neural Substrate.

It has been recently suggested that contact with nature improves mood via reducing the activity of the prefrontal cortex. However, the specific regions within the prefrontal cortex that underlie this effect remain unclear. In this study, we aimed to identify the specific regions involved in the mood-improving effect of viewing images of nature using a 52-channel functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS).

The Effect of Acute Aerobic Exercise on Divergent and Convergent Thinking and Its Influence by Mood.

Abundant evidence shows that various forms of physical exercise, even conducted briefly, may improve cognitive functions. However, the effect of physical exercise on creative thinking remains under-investigated, and the role of mood in this effect remains unclear. In the present study, we set out to investigate the effect of an acute bout of aerobic exercise on divergent and convergent thinking and whether this effect depends on the post-exercise mood.

Difficulty removing dialysis cuff catheter after its adhesion to the right atrium.

We describe the case of an elderly Japanese female who had experienced diabetic nephropathy since the year 20xx and had been undergoing dialysis treatment while receiving vascular access interventional therapy (VAIVT) for arteriovenous fistula (AVF) occlusion. The patient visited the clinic/hospital in 20xx+10 with the AVF occlusion; emergency VAIVT was performed but blood flow could not be resumed. The patient was not admitted and was treated as an outpatient, and thus a cuff catheter (Split stream catheter: SST28 cm, Medcomp) was inserted.
