- This study compares two surgical methods, Hartmann's procedure (HP) and resection with primary anastomosis (RPA), for treating acute left-sided colonic emergencies among 1215 patients from 204 centers globally.
- Results showed that while HP was the more common treatment (57.3%), RPA was favored for younger patients with fewer health issues and those needing surgery sooner.
- The study concluded that although HP is still widely used, RPA might be the better option, emphasizing the importance of patient characteristics and surgeon experience in determining treatment choice.
Introduction: Most thyroid nodules are benign, and treatment is primarily indicated for patients with symptoms or cosmetic concerns related to nodular volume. Here, we report the adopted methodology and the guideline's recommendations, as established in its diffusion policy.

- A recent study surveyed 46 out of 100 expert Italian upper gastrointestinal surgeons on their use of minimally invasive techniques for gastric cancer treatment, finding a similar preference for these methods in both early and advanced gastric cancer cases.
- The results indicated that as the number of surgical procedures performed at a center increased, so did the likelihood of utilizing minimally invasive approaches, suggesting a shift in clinical practice beyond current national guidelines.
The COVID 19 pandemic was declared on the 9 of March 2020. The health crisis affected the whole world with a very high and unexpected number of infected people. The situation forced the declaration of lockdown and a worldwide health system reorganization.
