Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) health literacy is low in high-risk populations and is likely a determinant of timely care seeking behavior. Our group aimed to develop a novel brief questionnaire for use in community outreach and related studies of AD awareness.

Methods: We developed an initial 15-item AD knowledge questionnaire "ASK-AD (Assess Symptoms and Knowledge of AD)" following pilot study and cognitive interviews with subject matter experts along with elementary school children.

Background: Dementia has a worldwide prevalence of 55 million people, with 60 to 70% of cases attributed to Alzheimer's Disease (AD). In Antioquia, Colombia, exists a group of families with early-onset AD associated to PSEN1-E280A, a genetic variant with an autosomal dominant inheritance pattern and a penetrance over 99%, which enables the study of individuals across different disease stages. Electroencephalography (EEG) is a non-invasive, portable, and low-cost technique that allows the study of electrophysiological changes associated with neurodegeneration.

Pelvic lymph node dissection (PLND) is the most accurate procedure for lymph node (LN) staging in prostate cancer (PCa) patients. LN sectioning and hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining of at least one slice remains the gold standard for LN evaluation, potentially leading to misdetection of small metastatic focus. Entire LN analysis is possible with One-Step Nucleic Acid Amplification (OSNA) by detecting cytokeratin 19 (CK19) mRNA as a surrogate for LN invasion.
