Five previously undescribed biopterin glycosides, microcystbiopterin A-E, were isolated from the extracts of two bloom materials of Microcystis spp. collected from a fishpond (IL-337) and Lake Kinneret (IL-347), Israel. The structure of the pterins was established by interpretation of their UV, CD, 1D and 2D NMR spectra and HR mass measurements.

At "magic" orientations of the magnetic field, the effect of local crystal field is strongly suppressed. In this case, the spin precession of Mn(2+) embedded in the lattice approaches the precession expected for the free ion.

The structure elucidation and biological activity of the six new natural products isolated from this bloom material and the related aeruginosin GH553 are described.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFWe introduce a previously unknown spin-related transport phenomenon, consisting of a transformation (swapping) of spin currents, in which the spin direction and the direction of flow are interchanged. Swapping is due to the spin-orbit interaction in scattering. It originates from the correlation between the spin rotation and the scattering angle.
