Background: We aimed to evaluate the predictive determitants in patients with PHF who were treated with reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) by evaluating the patient characteristics and comorbidities and extensive preoperative laboratory parameters.

Methods: With examining the records of elderly patients (over 65 years old) with PHF, who were admitted to our emergency department between 2009 and 2020. For evaluation of the survival, we performed Kaplan-Meirer statistical anaylses.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to compare two surgical methods—latissimus dorsi tendon transfer (LDTT) and open complete repair (OCR)—for treating symptomatic massive rotator cuff tears (MRCT), noting a lack of clear treatment guidelines.
  • Both surgical techniques improved functional scores and range of motion in patients, but LDTT showed lower failure rates compared to OCR, particularly in chronic cases lasting over a year.
  • The findings suggest that while OCR can be effective for acute MRCT, LDTT may be a better option for chronic cases, particularly those lasting over a year, due to higher rates of re-tear and poorer functional outcomes associated with OCR.

Background: The objective of this study was to evaluate the abilitiy of eccentric reaming in reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (RSA), in patients with glenohumeral osteoarthritis (GHOA), to correct preoperative glenoid retroversion and to compare with cuff tear arthopaty (CTA) cases.

Methods: Fifty-nine patients who underwent RSA with GHOA or CTA diagnosis between 2013 and 2022 and who had pre- and postoperative computed tomography scans were included in the study. Preoperative glenoid version and postoperative glenoid component versions of 17 patients with GHOA and 40 patients with CTA were measured by Friedman method.

Background: Rotator cuff lesions rank among the prevalent causes of shoulder pain. Combining surgical interventions with growth factors, scaffolds, and stem cell therapies can effectively decrease the likelihood of rotator cuff repair recurrence. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP), platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), and concentrated growth factor (CGF), isolated from blood and rich in growth factors, have a critical role in cell migration, cell proliferation, and angiogenesis during the tissue regeneration process.

Purpose: Reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) is an effective treatment option for rotator cuff arthropathy. Scapular notching following RSA remains a major complication and has a high incidence. This finite element analysis (FEA) study provides a future reference for the optimal design of the insert component of RSA.
