Overlap of Sjögren's Syndrome and Immune-Mediated Necrotizing Myopathy With Interstitial Lung Disease: A Case Report.

Immune-mediated necrotizing myopathy (IMNM), an inflammatory muscle disease, typically presents as severe muscle weakness due to immunologic mechanisms. Some cases also show cutaneous manifestations, interstitial lung disease, and sicca symptoms. In this report, we present a unique case of an elderly man with a history of mild and stable Sjögren's syndrome (SS) for over 10 years, who later developed interstitial lung disease and myositis, leading to a diagnosis of IMNM confirmed by the presence of anti-signal recognition particle antibodies.

The Significance of Longitudinal Psoas Muscle Loss in Predicting the Maintenance Efficacy of Durvalumab Treatment Following Concurrent Chemoradiotherapy in Patients with Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer: A Retrospective Study.

Sarcopenia assessed at a single time point is associated with the efficacy of immunotherapy, and we hypothesized that longitudinal changes in muscle mass may also be important. This retrospective study included patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who received durvalumab treatment after concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) between January 2017 and April 2023. Muscle loss and sarcopenia were assessed based on the lumbar skeletal muscle area.

Thoracic epidural analgesia prolongs postoperative QT interval on electrocardiogram in major non-cardiac surgery: a randomized comparison and a prospective cohort analysis.

Prolongation of QT interval on electrocardiogram can be associated with perioperative lethal arrhythmia. Epidural analgesia is a commonly used modality to relieve surgical pain by blocking sensory nerves, which also blocks the autonomic nervous system and can affect QT interval. Since patient monitoring becomes much less frequent after surgery than intraoperative period, we investigated the effects of epidural analgesia on postoperative QT interval with a randomized clinical trial and a prospective cohort study.

Twenty-four-hour ambulatory oximetry monitoring in a patient with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis for assisting in the discharge instruction on activities of daily living: a case report.

[Purpose] Patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) often develop remarkable exercise-induced hypoxemia and are hospitalized for management. The pre-discharge management of activities of daily living (ADL) should determine the amount of exercise-induced hypoxemia permitted during daily activities and inform concrete instructions based on these results. This clinical report aimed to promote 24-hour ambulatory oximetry monitoring in a patient with IPF to guide the pre-discharge management of ADL.
