Pleomorphic adenoma (PA) is the most common salivary gland tumor. PAs are characterized by chromosomal rearrangements of 8q12 and 12q14-15, leading to gene fusions involving the PLAG1 and HMGA2 oncogenes. Here, we performed the first comprehensive study of the transcriptomic and gene fusion landscape of 38 cytogenetically characterized PAs.

Genus Stachybotrys (Stachybotryaceae, Hypocreales) requires high humidity to grow and represents one of the most notorious fungi associated with suspected illness in moist buildings. If Stachybotrys conidia are found in settled indoor dusts, their presence may indicate water intrusion and mold infestation revealed after dismantling the building structures. This study describes detection of Stachybotrys growth hidden inside the structures of three buildings in Finland.

In recent years, the design and synthesis of high-performing conjugated materials for the application in organic photovoltaics (OPVs) have achieved lab-scale devices with high power conversion efficiency. However, most of the high-performing materials are still synthesised using complex multistep procedures, resulting in high cost. For the upscaling of OPVs, it is also important to focus on conjugated polymers that can be made via fewer simple synthetic steps.

Article Synopsis
  • Recent studies showed only weak connections between age, dopamine receptor availability, and cognitive decline, suggesting more research is needed.
  • Longitudinal data over five years found that older adults who experienced declines in D2/3 dopamine receptors had worse working memory performance over time.
  • Specifically, the decline in dopamine receptor availability was significant in key brain regions linked to working memory, supporting the idea that dopamine changes contribute to cognitive aging.
