Introduction: The aggregation and spread of hyperphosphorylated, pathological tau in the human brain is hypothesized to play a key role in Alzheimer's disease (AD) as well as other neurogenerative tauopathies. O-GlcNAcylation, an important post-translational modification of tau and many other proteins, is significantly decreased in brain tissue of AD patients relative to healthy controls. Increased tau O-GlcNAcylation has been shown to reduce tau pathology in mouse in vivo tauopathy models.

Background: Standardized clinical care processes for patients with Crohn's disease (CD) and a permanent ileostomy (PI) are lacking. The EndOTrial consortium aims to address this gap by developing pathways for care.

Methods: In this umbrella review, we searched major databases for relevant systematic reviews (SRs) or scoping reviews (ScR) published until January 5, 2024.

Cost-effectiveness of surgery for degenerative cervical myelopathy in the United Kingdom.

Purpose: Degenerative cervical myelopathy (DCM) is the commonest cause of adult spinal cord dysfunction worldwide, for which surgery is the mainstay of treatment. At present, there is limited literature on the costs associated with the surgical management of DCM, and none from the United Kingdom (UK). This study aimed to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of DCM surgery within the National Health Service, UK.

Real-World Effectiveness of Intravenous and Oral Antibiotic Stepdown Strategies for Gram-Negative Complicated Urinary Tract Infection With Bacteremia.

Background: Robust data are lacking regarding the optimal route, duration, and antibiotic choice for gram-negative bloodstream infection from a complicated urinary tract infection source (GN-BSI/cUTI).

Methods: In this multicenter observational cohort study, we simulated a 4-arm registry trial using a causal inference method to compare effectiveness of the following regimens for GN-BSI/cUTI: complete course of an intravenous β-lactam (IVBL) or oral stepdown therapy within 7 days using fluoroquinolones (FQs), trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (TMP-SMX), or high-bioavailability β-lactams (HBBLs). Adults treated between January 2016 and December 2022 for or species GN-BSI/cUTI were included.
