: Metered-dose inhalers (MDIs) and dry powder inhalers (DPIs) are common inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) inhaler devices. The difference in formulation and administration technique of these devices may influence oral cavity microbiota composition. We aimed to compare the saliva microbiome in children with moderate-to-severe asthma using ICS via MDIs versus DPIs.

Secondary metabolites of Alternaria alternate appraisal of their SARS-CoV-2 inhibitory and anti-inflammatory potentials.

This study identifies the secondary metabolites from Alternaria alternate and evaluates their ACE-2: Spike RBD (SARS-CoV-2) inhibitory activity confirmed via immunoblotting in human lung microvascular endothelial cells. In addition, their in vitro anti-inflammatory potential was assessed using a cell-based assay in LPS-treated RAW 264.7 macrophage cells.

Development and In-Vitro Tuning of Piperine Containing Solid Lipid Microparticles for the Treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis.

The current project was designed to develop piperine-loaded solid lipid microparticles (SLMs) to assess the anti-arthritic potential of piperine (PIP). Variable proportions of carnauba wax, beeswax, and tween 80 were employed for preparing SLMs by using the solvent evaporation technique. The developed formulations were subjected to particle size measurements, entrapment efficiency (EE), and zeta potential (ZP) determination.

Unveiling Clinically Significant Anti-Lewis Antibodies: A Case Report.

Lewis antibodies, such as anti-Le and anti-Le, are commonly encountered in routine immunohematology. They are typically IgM in nature and are generally considered clinically insignificant, as they rarely cause hemolytic transfusion reactions (HTRs) or hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN). However, rare cases have been reported where anti-Lewis antibodies caused mild transfusion reactions.

Tracing the birth and intrinsic disorder of loops and domains in protein evolution.

Protein loops and structural domains are building blocks of molecular structure. They hold evolutionary memory and are largely responsible for the many functions and processes that drive the living world. Here, we briefly review two decades of phylogenomic data-driven research focusing on the emergence and evolution of these elemental architects of protein structure.
