Article Synopsis
  • Large unresectable soft tissue sarcomas (STS) present significant challenges for treatment, as traditional neoadjuvant therapies like chemotherapy and radiotherapy often lead to unsatisfactory results.
  • A case report showcases the successful use of isolated limb perfusion (ILP) with TNF-alfa and Alkeran (Melphalan) in a patient with large myxoid liposarcoma, resulting in a 55% tumor size reduction and 99% tumor necrosis after surgery.
  • The patient maintained full function of the limb and remained disease-free one year later, suggesting ILP could be a viable limb-sparing treatment option for select cases.

Background: Chondrosarcomas of the small bones of the hands and feet are uncommon and account for less than 2% of all chondrosarcomas in the skeleton; a 4.2% rate of malignant degeneration of enchondromas to secondary chondrosarcomas has been reported. We performed this study to assess the outcome of the patients with chondrosarcomas of the small bones.

Background: It is generally acknowledged that interobserver variability for the histological diagnosis of endocervical adenocarcinoma (EA) subtypes is suboptimal. The recently proposed International Endocervical Adenocarcinoma Criteria and Classification (IECC) system is based on the presence of associated human papilloma virus (HPV) infection. It recognises HPV-associated EAs and non-HPV-associated EAs.

Clinical examination under general anaesthesia revealed bilateral multiple pigmented immobile vitreous cysts.
