Data for a simulation of metal cutting with cutting fluid using the Finite-Pointset-Method.

The measurement and simulation data, their preparation and the simulation setup published in this co-submission are related to the article "Simulation of metal cutting with cutting fluid using the Finite-Pointset-Method" [1]. Wet and dry turning experiments were conducted at the Institute for Machine Tools and Factory Management(IWF), Berlin, Germany. Required adaptions of the used software MESHFREE were performed at Fraunhofer ITWM, Kaiserslautern, Germany.

Auras in mysticism and synaesthesia: a comparison.

In a variety of synaesthesia, photisms result from affect-laden stimuli as emotional words, or faces of familiar people. For R, who participated in this study, the sight of a familiar person triggers a mental image of "a human silhouette filled with colour". Subjective descriptions of synaesthetic experiences induced by the visual perception of people's figures and faces show similarities with the reports of those who claim to possess the ability to see the aura.

Synaesthesia: the existing state of affairs.

In synaesthesia one type of stimulation evokes the sensation of another, such as when hearing a sound produces photisms--that is, mental percepts of colours. In the past, the idiosyncrasy of this phenomenon, as well as the natural mistrust of scientists towards the subjective, consigned synaesthesia to the periphery of scientific interest. However, the landscape has changed radically in the last two decades.

The nature of residual cost in regular switch response factors.

Two experiments are presented that compare the residual cost found when switching from one task to another under predictable conditions. The aim of the study was to explore the roles played by the stimulus, the response, or both in the process of the mental set reconfiguration necessary to switch between two tasks. The experiments tested [Rogers, R.
