Comparative Effectiveness of Decision Aids for Cancer-Screening Decision Making: An Overview of Reviews.

Background: Decision aids (DAs), compared to no DAs, help improve the key aspects of shared decision-making, including increased knowledge, discussion frequency, and reduction in decisional conflict. However, systematic reviews have reported varied conclusions on screening uptake, and which DAs are superior to alternative forms in shared decision-making for cancer screening has not been comprehensively reviewed.

Methods: An overview of systematic reviews was performed.

The effect of introducing a nurse-practitioner-led peripherally inserted central venous catheter placement program on the utilization of central venous access device: A retrospective study in Japan.

Background: Nurse-led peripherally inserted central venous catheter (PICC) placement teams are common in western hospitals, but they are still in their infancy in Japan. Although implementing a dedicated program may improve ongoing vascular-access management, the direct hospital-level effects of launching a nurse-led PICC team on specific outcomes have not been formally investigated.

Objectives: To evaluate the effect of introducing a nurse practitioner (NP)-led PICC-placement program on subsequent utilization of centrally inserted central catheters (CICCs) and to contrast the quality of PICC placements conducted by physicians and NPs.

Family Role in Care of Patients With Neurological Conditions: International Neuroscience Nursing Research Symposium Proceedings.

BACKGROUND: Discussions during the 2022 International Neuroscience Nursing Research Symposium highlighted the impact of family in the care of neuroscience patients. This sparked conversations about the need for understanding global differences in family involvement in the care of patients with neurological conditions. METHODS: Neuroscience nurses from Germany, India, Japan, Kenya, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, the United States, and Vietnam collaborated to provide a short summary of family involvement in caring for patients with neurological conditions in their respective countries.

Clonazepam-associated Bradycardia in a Disabled Elderly Woman with Multiple Complications.

We herein report an 87-year-old woman who was taking clonazepam at 1.5 mg/day. She was hospitalized with an old cerebral infarction complicated with symptomatic epilepsy, dementia, dyslipidemia, and chronic cholecystitis.
