It is known that patients undergoing laparoscopic surgery can be discharged from hospital sooner and their reconvalescence is achieved faster than after laparotomy. Beside the medical judgement of the healing process it is also important to assess the length of time needed for the patients to feel themselves completely cured and be free of complaints. The data on the subjective judgement of the healing process provided by 335 patients who underwent laparoscopic surgery are analyzed retrospectively here.

In order to explore the contents of childbirth-related fears, a survey was carried out among 216 pairs of prospective parents who opted for the presence of the partner at delivery. Each couple took part in a three-class parentcraft course during the third trimester. During the first antenatal class, couples were asked to fill in a questionnaire with inquiries about specific contents of fear they might have in relation to pregnancy, childbirth and relationship with their partner after childbirth.

The authors reported the case of a 26 year-old primipara who had unexplained congestive cardiac failure on the 9th week after delivery. There was no previous disease in her history however her pregnancy endangered because of imminent abortion was preceded by 1 artificial and 2 spontaneous abortions. In the acute phase she had to be resuscitated because of ventricular fibrillation and then she had a pulmonary embolism followed by pneumonia and therefore she was in septic state for 4 weeks.

The authors report on the case of a 35-year-old man with multiple risk factors, who was sent to cardiac examination in order to find the cause of microembolisms on his fingers of his hands and on his right leg. According to the history and the ECG the patient had suffered an anterior myocardial infarction at home two months before the embolisms which had not been detected at that time. Performing 2D echocardiography, wall motion abnormality indicating anterior myocardial infarction and several thrombi were found as the source of embolisms.
