Concern over reduced intelligibility in a child is a common reason for consulting a speech-language pathologist. Nevertheless, there is little published research on speech sound disorders among French-speaking children. As a result, speech-language pathologists must rely on their clinical expertise or on research involving children who speak other languages, often the English language.

Fas apoptosis inhibitory molecule (FAIM) is a soluble cytosolic protein inhibitor of programmed cell death and is found in organisms throughout the animal kingdom. A short isoform of FAIM is expressed in all tissue types, while an alternatively spliced long isoform is specifically expressed in the brain. Here, the short isoform is shown to consist of two independently folding domains in contact with each other.

This study aims to elucidate the relationship between glycemic status and patient outcome in an integrated database collected at a tertiary teaching hospital. Clinical data of 16,135 critically ill adult patients with blood glucose measurements were extracted.

Field testing of lake water chemistry with a portable and an AUV-based mass spectrometer.

Two mass spectrometers (MS) are tested for the measurement of volatile substances, such as hydrocarbons and metabolic gases, in natural waters. KOALA is a backpackable MS operated from above the water surface, in which samples are pumped through a flow cell using a syringe. NEREUS is an underwater instrument hosted by an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) that is linked to a communications network to provide chemical data in real time.
