Multiple-beam equalization radiography in chest radiology. Image quality and radiation dose considerations.

The large difference in transmission between the mediastinum and the part of the chest mainly containing lungs causes major problems in chest radiography. A system for advanced multiple beam equalization radiography has been evaluated. Evaluation of image quality has been performed both using standard phantoms and from clinical radiographs.

Clinical value of serum digoxin assays in outpatients: improvement by the standardization of blood sampling.

Everyday physical activity previously has been shown to affect serum digoxin concentrations. Standardized rest in the supine position increases outpatient serum digoxin levels 0% to 75%. The present study comprising 56 outpatients treated with digoxin was undertaken to elucidate the clinical importance of a standardized period of rest before collection of the blood sample.

Hyperostosis cranii. Radiography and scintigraphy compared.

The bone scintigrams of 52 women with radiographically proven hyperostosis cranii were examined specifically with regard to the endosteal lesions. It was confirmed that hyperostosis cranii exhibits a characteristic appearance at bone scintigraphy that is usually easy to recognize. By scoring the degree of hyperostotic changes and their scintigraphic activity according to a semiquantitative scale, an inverse relation between radiographic changes and scintigraphic activity was observed but could not be statistically proven.
