Background: Changes in the phenotype and genotype in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) are thought to involve the myocardium as well as extracardiac tissues. Here, we describe the structural and functional changes in the ascending aorta of obstructive patients with HCM.

Methods: Changes in the aortic wall were studied in a cohort of 101 consecutive patients with HCM undergoing myectomy and 9 normal controls.

Sacubitril/valsartan is an angiotensin receptor-neprilysin inhibitor (ARNI) drug used to treat patients with heart failure and has shown improvement in outcomes. Different studies reported the use of an ARNI in patients using left ventricular assist devices (LVADs). However, there are limited data on the use of ARNIs in this population.

Article Synopsis
  • Atrial fibrillation (AF) significantly increases the risk of stroke due to thrombus formation in the left atrial appendage (LAA), which can have varied morphologies impacting blood flow dynamics.
  • The study used advanced non-Newtonian computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models to analyze blood viscosity in the LAA, confirming that fibrinogen levels substantially influence this viscosity across different patient groups, particularly in AF patients with Covid-19.
  • Gaussian process emulators (GPEs) showed promise for predicting blood viscosity in the LAA quickly and effectively, with the chicken wing morphology displaying the highest viscosity levels among the LAA types analyzed.

Sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2-i) have been shown to reduce risks of clinical events in patients with heart failure (HF). However, data on the use of SGLT2-i in patients with left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) are scarce. We thought to assess the efficacy and safety of SGLT2-i in patients with LVADs.

Background: Testicular cancer poses a substantial health burden globally, and early detection through testicular self-examination (TSE) is vital for improving prognosis. The study aims to assess the perception, awareness, knowledge, and factors associated with TSE among Saudi nursing students.

Materials And Methods: A structured questionnaire was distributed to 418 participants.
