We report on a young woman with anuric, terminal renal insufficiency whose bladder could not be used for renal transplantation. A Kock pouch was implanted during stage 1 of treatment and the capacity of the pouch was increased artificially with physiological saline solution. The patient subsequently underwent renal transplantation.

The authors have made an anatomical and experimental study in cadavers. They consider that one of the main features of chronic anterior instability of the knee is related to the instability of the lateral femoral condyle. This is due to the loss of its two stabilizers: the anterior cruciate ligament and the popliteal muscle.

The authors report a radio-anatomic study of the carotid axis in the context of the implantation of microsurgical vascular anastomoses. The information derived from 36 dissections and 50 arteriographic studies suggests the preferential use of the superior thyroid, facial and lingual branches. Section and turning-down of the external carotid and direct end-to-side implantation on the common carotid could provide fall-back solutions when the collaterals are slender.
