Background: Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) is a cornerstone treatment for heart failure, yet the optimal pacing mode remains uncertain. This study investigates the impact of DDDR (rate-adaptive atrial support) versus VDD pacing modes on functional capacity and echocardiographic outcomes in patients with CRT-defibrillators.

Methods: In a multicenter, double-blind, crossover trial, 26 sinus rhythm patients undergoing CRT-defibrillator implantation were randomized to DDDR at 60 beats-per-minute or VDD at 30 beats-per-minute.

Satellite DNAs are highly repetitive, tandemly arranged sequences, typically making up large portions (> 20%) of the eukaryotic genome. Endolymphatic hydrops has been documented as a possible complication of cochlear implantation; however, few studies have addressed its treatment. We describe the first case ever reported of delayed endolymphatic hydrops after a cochlear implant successfully treated with intratympanic gentamicin injection. A detailed discussion of this case with a focus on its management and outcomes will be provided in comparison with literature data.

Acute vertigo is defined as the perception of movement of oneself or the surroundings in the absence of actual motion and it is a frequent cause for emergency department admissions. The utilization of medical resources and the duration of hospital stay for this kind of symptom is high. Furthermore, the efficiency of brain imaging in the acute phase is low, considering the limited sensitivity of both CT and MRI for diagnosing diseases that are the causes of central type of vertigo.
