Purpose: This Hydrocephalus Clinical Research Network (HCRN) study had two aims: (1) to compare the predictive performance of the original ETV Success Score (ETVSS) using logistic regression modeling with other newer machine learning models and (2) to assess whether inclusion of imaging variables improves prediction performance using machine learning models.
Methods: We identified children undergoing first-time ETV for hydrocephalus that were enrolled prospectively at HCRN sites between 200 and 2020. The primary outcome was ETV success 6 months after index surgery.
A 3D range-modulator (RM), optimized for a single energy and a specific target shape, is a promising and viable solution for the ultra-fast dose delivery in particle therapy. The aim of this work was to investigate the impact of potential beam and modulator misalignments on the dose distribution. Moreover, the FLUKA Monte Carlo model, capable of simulating 3D RMs, was adjusted and validated for the 250 MeV single-energy proton irradiation from a Varian ProBeam system.

Background: Oxidative stress plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of coronary artery disease. In cardiovascular research using murine models, the generation and maintenance of models with robust coronary arterial atherosclerosis has been challenging.
Methods: We characterized a new mouse model in which the last 3 amino acids of the carboxyl terminus of the HDL (high-density lipoprotein) receptor (SR-B1 [scavenger receptor, class B, type 1]) were deleted in a low-density lipoprotein receptor knockout (LDLR) mouse model (SR-B1ΔCT/LDLR) fed an atherogenic diet.
