Purpose: Keratoconus (KCN) is characterized by corneal thinning and bulging, leading to vision impairment. Assessing choroidal thickness (CT) in pediatric KCN ( pKCN) patients can provide insights for better understanding and managing the disease. CT may serve as a potential indicator of disease activity in KCN patients.

Article Synopsis
  • Phleboviruses are divided into two main groups: the sandfly fever group (spread by sandflies and mosquitoes) and the Uukuniemi group (spread by ticks).
  • The study focused on identifying sandfly species and detecting sandfly-borne viruses (SBVs) in Iran, using PCR techniques.
  • Researchers identified five positive specimens for phleboviruses, shedding light on the molecular epidemiology of Tehran virus, sandfly fever Sicilian virus, and Karimabad virus in the region.

The study of diseases, specifically their aetiologies, their step-by-step progressions (pathogenesis), and their impact on normal structure and function, is the focus of pathology, a branch of science and medicine. In therapeutic fields, it is critical to decrease significantly elevated levels of proinflammatory cytokines. The immunomodulatory drugs such as dexamethasone have been used in several of inflammatory diseases such as Covid-19.

Article Synopsis
  • Glioblastoma and gliomas have various histopathologic subtypes linked to glioma stem cells (GSCs) that contribute to tumor growth and self-renewal.
  • GSCs are regulated by complex epigenetic mechanisms involving non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs), which play crucial roles in cancer development by acting as oncogenes or tumor suppressors.
  • Recent research highlights the impact of ncRNAs on glioma progression, especially regarding cancer stem cells, suggesting their potential as biomarkers and therapeutic targets in clinical settings.
