Purpose: This study aims to provide new insights into the potential of oyster mushroom () ethanolic extract in preventing obesity through the inhibition of expression and modulation of methylation level on promoter during 3T3-L1 adipocyte differentiation.
Methods: This in vitro quantitative experimental study was conducted by treating the 3T3-L1 cell line differentiated using 0.5 mM methyl-isobutyl-xanthine, 1 μM dexamethasone, and 10 μg/mL insulin-containing medium with oyster mushroom ethanolic extract.
Iron overload in transfusion-dependent thalassemia patients represents a significant public health challenge due to its high mortality rate and risks of severe complications. Therefore, developing safe and effective therapeutic modalities for managing iron overload is critical, as current animal models inadequately replicate human conditions. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of intravenous iron dextran on hepatocyte morphology, liver iron concentration, and serum iron profile changes as a model for hemochromatosis.

Methods: U87 glioblastoma cells were treated with extract and a fraction of Vernonia amygdalina Delile (VAD) was harvested from the herbarium. Cytotoxicity was evaluated to determine the IC50 through microscopic observation followed by an MTT assay.
Intermediate filaments are one of the three components of the cytoskeletons, along with actin and microtubules. The intermediate filaments consist of extensive variations of structurally related proteins with specific expression patterns in cell types. The expression pattern alteration of intermediate filaments is frequently correlated with cancer progression, specifically with the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition process closely related to increasing cellular migration and invasion.
