Alzheimer's disease (ALZ) is a neurodegenerative disease that damages neuronal cells and causes decline in cognitive abilities. Administration of cholinesterase inhibitor compounds is the primary choice in the treatment of ALZ, one of which is rivastigmine (RVT). Several routes of administration of RVT are available, such as oral and transdermal.

Background: Amphotericin B (AMB) is a drug used to treat vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC), which is a fungal infection affecting the vagina and vulva. Nevertheless, the substance's limited capacity to dissolve in water leads to poor absorption when taken orally, hence diminishing its therapeutic efficacy. In order to address this limitation, β-cyclodextrin (βCD) was used to create AMB in the form of an inclusion complex.

Background/objectives: Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the airways affecting over 10% of the global population. It is characterized by airway inflammation, mucus hypersecretion, and bronchial hyperresponsiveness, driven predominantly by type 2 helper T cells (Th2) and type 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2s) in a subset of patients. However, a significant portion of asthmatic individuals present with "type 2-low" asthma that is often refractory to standard inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) therapy.

Antimicrobial resistance has emerged as a significant danger to global health, and the need for more effective antimicrobial resistance (AMR) control has been highlighted. Cinnamic acid is abundant in plant products and is a potential starting material for further modification, focusing on the development of new antimicrobial compounds. In the following review, we describe the classification of critical antibacterial-guided reactions applied to the main skeleton structure of cinnamic acid derivatives over the last decade.

Article Synopsis
  • * Researchers created an inclusion complex (ITZ-IC) using β-cyclodextrin (β-CD), which significantly increased ITZ's solubility by 4-fold and confirmed stable binding through molecular docking studies.
  • * A dissolving microneedle (DMN) system was developed for ocular delivery of ITZ-IC, showing good mechanical properties, rapid dissolution, 75.71% permeation through corneas, and no irritation, indicating a safe and effective delivery method.
