Guiding molecular assembly of peptides into rationally engineered nanostructures remains a major hurdle against the development of functional peptide-based nanomaterials. Various non-covalent interactions come into play to drive the formation and stabilization of these assemblies, of which electrostatic interactions are key. During the field visits in growing season of 2022 in Dammam Region of Saudi Arabia, begomovirus-like symptoms including leaf curling, leaf cupping, leaf distortion, vein thickening and reduced leaf size were observed in squash and cucumber fields.
