First Determination of the Spin-Parity of Ξ_{c}(3055)^{+,0} Baryons.

The Ξ_{b}^{0(-)}→Ξ_{c}(3055)^{+(0)}(→D^{+(0)}Λ)π^{-} decay chains are observed, and the spin-parity of Ξ_{c}(3055)^{+(0)} baryons is determined for the first time. The measurement is performed using proton-proton collision data at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt[s]=13  TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4  fb^{-1}, recorded by the LHCb experiment between 2016 and 2018.

Organic Molecule Adsorption on Barite (001)─A Density Functional Theory Study.

Scale formation is a continuous and expensive challenge in several industries such as water treatment systems, oil and gas production, and desalination plants. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations were employed to explore the adsorption mechanisms of a diverse set of organic molecules on the barite (001) surface relevant for scale inhibition application. Our study focuses on understanding how different functional groups influence adsorption energy, surface affinity, and potential inhibition effectiveness.

Boosting hypochlorite's disinfection power through pH modulation.

Purpose: Hypochlorite-based formulations are widely used for surface disinfection. However, the efficacy of hypochlorite against spore-forming bacteria varies significantly in the literature. Although neutral or low pH hypochlorite solutions are effective sporicides due to the formation of hypochlorous acid (HOCl), their optimal conditions and the specific role of pH in disinfection remain unclear.

Measurement of the Branching Fraction Ratios R(D^{+}) and R(D^{*+}) Using Muonic τ Decays.

The branching fraction ratios of B[over ¯]^{0}→D^{+}τ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{τ} and B[over ¯]^{0}→D^{*+}τ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{τ} decays are measured with respect to their muonic counterparts, using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.0  fb^{-1} collected by the LHCb experiment in proton-proton collisions at sqrt[s]=13  TeV. The reconstructed final states are formed by combining D^{+} mesons with τ^{-}→μ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{μ}ν_{τ} candidates, where the D^{+} is reconstructed via the D^{+}→K^{-}π^{+}π^{+} decay.

Bridging the 3D geometrical organisation of white matter pathways across anatomical length scales and species.

We used diffusion MRI and x-ray synchrotron imaging on monkey and mice brains to examine the organisation of fibre pathways in white matter across anatomical scales. We compared the structure in the corpus callosum and crossing fibre regions and investigated the differences in cuprizone-induced demyelination in mouse brains versus healthy controls. Our findings revealed common principles of fibre organisation that apply despite the varying patterns observed across species; small axonal fasciculi and major bundles formed laminar structures with varying angles, according to the characteristics of major pathways.
