Personal and Social-Built Environmental Factors of Glucose Variability Among Multiethnic Groups of Adults With Type 2 Diabetes: Research Protocol Using Ecological Momentary Assessment, Continuous Glucose Monitoring, and Actigraphy.

Glucose variability (GV)-the degree of fluctuation in glucose levels over a certain period of time-is emerging as an important parameter of dynamic glycemic control. Repeated glycemic oscillations have been reported to be the link to diabetes complications. This prospective observational study aims to: (1) identify multilevel risk factors (personal and social-built environmental factors) associated with high GV; (2) identify "within-person predictors" of high GV leveraging the intra-person data to inform future personalized diabetes interventions; and (3) examine which lifestyle factors either mediate or moderate the relationship between emotional well-being and GV among diverse adults with type 2 diabetes (T2D).

Improving access to first-line treatment for pediatric obesity: Lessons from the dissemination of SmartMoves.

Objective: The increasing prevalence of and inequities in childhood obesity demand improved access to effective treatment. The SmartMoves curriculum used in Bright Bodies, a proven-effective, intensive health behavior and lifestyle treatment (IHBLT), was disseminated to ≥30 US sites from 2003 to 2018. We aimed to identify barriers to and facilitators of IHBLT implementation/sustainment.

Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography Under General Anesthesia Compared to Conscious Sedation Study.

Background: Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is used to diagnose and treat pancreatic and biliary disease. The current standard is to conduct ERCP under conscious sedation (CS). Patient movement and agitation during ERCP under CS can result in procedure failure and complications.

IRE1α recognizes a structural motif in cholera toxin to activate an unfolded protein response.

IRE1α is an endoplasmic reticulum (ER) sensor that recognizes misfolded proteins to induce the unfolded protein response (UPR). We studied cholera toxin (CTx), which invades the ER and activates IRE1α in host cells, to understand how unfolded proteins are recognized. Proximity labeling colocalized the enzymatic and metastable A1 segment of CTx (CTxA1) with IRE1α in live cells, where we also found that CTx-induced IRE1α activation enhanced toxicity.
