The use of in vitro markers able to reproduce the in vivo permeability and diffusivity of orally administered drugs, could represent an innovative starting point for the formulation of delivery systems, in particular for low soluble and low permeable drugs belonging to BCS class II and IV. Considering the great interest in the green pharmaceutical approaches and the increasing use of natural molecules as novel therapeutic drugs, in this study, rutin, hesperidin and curcumin have been selected as lipophilic model drugs to investigate their possible enhancement of their permeability and bioavailability after oral administration. As the low solubility of the three drugs hinders their application, β-cyclodextrins (CD), amphiphilic natural moieties able to form stable inclusion complexes, have been considered to promote their solubilization.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was o examine the optical coherence tomographic (OCT) characteristics of hyper-reflective foci (HRF) in patients with neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) and to assess the potential of HRF as a predictive factor for the development of macular atrophy following anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) therapy.
Methods: This was a retrospective analysis of 61 treatment-naïve eyes diagnosed with exudative AMD and type 1 macular neovascularization (MNV). The HRF was identified in the inner retina and outer retina layers, and the treatment response of HRF was documented.
In August 2019, Brazil experienced its largest large oil spill, which impacted extensive areas and significantly affected the northeastern region, particularly Pernambuco. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), major oil components, are critical for assessing fish contamination risks. This study presents two sample pretreatment methods for fish samples - ultrasound-enhanced air-assisted liquid-liquid microextraction (UE-AA-LLME) for low molar mass PAHs, and matrix solid-phase dispersion for high molar mass PAHs - followed by a Gas-Chromatography coupled to Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) detection.

This study aims to report changes in multifocal electroretinography (mfERG) 6 months post-SING IMT implantation. In this case series, we prospectively evaluated a cohort of phakic patients with late-stage AMD who underwent SING IMT implantation at the Ophthalmology Unit, University of Bari Aldo Moro, Italy.

Wildfires can devastate plant communities, generating toxic ash that pollutes watercourses through runoff. However, our understanding of the effects of ash exposure on aquatic biodiversity is still limited.
