Background And Importance: Chest pain (CP) is one of the most frequent presentations to the emergency department (ED), a large proportion of which is non-cardiac chest pain (NCCP). Repeat attendances to ED are common and impose considerable burden to overstretched departments.
Objective: Our aim was to determine drivers for repeat ED presentations using NCCP as the primary cause of index presentation.
Aim Of The Study: To compare the outcomes of three knee arthroplasty design philosophies and surface tribology.• A zirconium-surfaced, bicruciate-stabilised implant designed to mimic kinematic movement and improve flexion and outcomes;• A cobalt-chrome surfaced, multi-radius design with built-in femoral external rotation to aid balancing and patella tracking through a deeper trochlea groove;• A zirconium-surfaced, single-radius implant designed on surface conformity, particularly within the patello-femoral joint.
Methods: 313 knee replacements - 103 103 and 107 - were statistically assessed at a minimum of 2 years using WOMAC, Oxford and SF-12 scores, and range of movement.
Nitisinone (NTBC) was recently approved to treat alkaptonuria (AKU), but there is no information on its impact on oxidative stress and inflammation, which are observed in AKU. Therefore, serum samples collected during the clinical studies SONIA1 (40 AKU patients) and SONIA2 (138 AKU patients) were tested for Serum Amyloid A (SAA), CRP and IL-8 by ELISA; Advanced Oxidation Protein Products (AOPP) by spectrophotometry; and protein carbonyls by Western blot. Our results show that NTBC had no significant effects on the tested markers except for a slight but statistically significant effect for NTBC, but not for the combination of time and NTBC, on SAA levels in SONIA2 patients.

Methods: Patients with AKU aged 25 years or older were randomly assigned to receive either oral nitisinone 10 mg/day (N=69) or no treatment (N=69). Spine radiographs were recorded yearly at baseline, 12, 24, 36 and 48 months, and the images were scored for the presence of intervertebral space narrowing, soft tissue calcifications, vacuum phenomena, osteophytes/hyperostosis and spinal fusion in the cervical, thoracic and lumbosacral segment at each of the time points.
Background: Recurrence is common after neoadjuvant chemotherapy and radical treatment for muscle-invasive bladder cancer. We investigated the effect of adding nintedanib to neoadjuvant chemotherapy on response and survival in muscle-invasive bladder cancer.
Methods: NEOBLADE was a parallel-arm, double-blind, randomised, placebo-controlled, phase 2 trial of neoadjuvant gemcitabine and cisplatin chemotherapy with nintedanib or placebo in locally advanced muscle-invasive bladder cancer.
