The evolutionary arms race between bacteria and phages led to the emergence of bacterial immune systems whose diversity and dynamics remain poorly understood. Here we use comparative genomics to describe a widespread genetic element, defined by the presence of the Gamma-Mobile-Trio (GMT) proteins, that serves as a reservoir of offensive and defensive tools. We demonstrate, using Vibrio parahaemolyticus as a model, that GMT-containing genomic islands are active mobile elements.

Methods: 31 patients used pregabalin treatment during pregnancy and 93 control patients were included in the study who applied to hospital between the years 2013-2022.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of carbohydrate loading prior to the cesarean surgery under spinal anesthesia on thiols and ischemia-modified albumin (IMA) levels.
Design: Prospective, randomized placebo-controlled study.
Methods: Seventy-nine pregnant women planned for cesarean sections under spinal anesthesia at Karaman Training and Research Hospital were randomized into a control group (group C) (n = 42), and an oral carbohydrate preloading group (group OCH) (n = 37).
Obtaining sperm from the testis surgically and using these sperm with the intracytoplasmic sperm injection technique, has opened the way for the possibility of biological fathering in men with non-obstructive azoospermia (NOA). We aimed to evaluate our sperm retrieval rate (SRR) by microdissection testicular sperm extraction (micro-TESE) in NOA patients with solitary testis. In this retrospective case-control study, fortyfive patients with NOA who had a congenital or acquired solitary testis were included, between September 2003 and January 2022.
