For a new look at 'lexical errors': evidence from semantic approximations with verbs in aphasia.

The ability to understand the similarity between two phenomena is fundamental for humans. Designated by the term analogy in psychology, this ability plays a role in the categorization of phenomena in the world and in the organisation of the linguistic system. The use of analogy in language often results in non-standard utterances, particularly in speakers with aphasia.

In order to overcome the stop marketing by Biorad company of automated high performance liquid chromatograph with UV detection (Remedi), we developed a gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) to detect and to give an approximation of the overdose of molecules frequently encountered in drug intoxications. Geographical variation and factors associated to seroprevalence of canine leishmaniosis in an endemic Mediterranean area.

This article retrospectively analyses the spatial distribution and dog- and environmental-level risk factors associated to Leishmania infantum seroprevalence among 807 asymptomatic dogs in the Municipality of Crevillente in Alicante in southeast Spain in 1999. They represented 60% of the dogs in this 103 km2 area, with a human census of 27 034 people and 90% lived in Crevillente town. The estimated seroprevalence (95% confidence interval) in 714 dogs > or =1-year old was 22% (19-25) however; it was 12% (8-15) in town dogs and 0-100% in other administrative zones.

Rapid quantification of miglustat in human plasma and cerebrospinal fluid by liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry.

Miglustat (OGT 918) is an iminosugar recently introduced in therapeutic as potential alternative therapy in disorders found in several diseases such as Tay-Sachs, Gaucher or Niemann-Pick diseases. A highly sensitive liquid-chromatography-electrospray tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) assay was developed for the quantification of miglustat in human plasma and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). The sample preparation consists in a simple protein precipitation with a mixture of acetonitrile/methanol (75/25) which yields 100% recovery.
