An automated system for acquiring microscopic-resolution radiographic images of biological samples was developed. Mass-produced, low-cost, and easily automated components were used, such as Commercial-Off-The-Self CMOS image sensors (CIS), stepper motors, and control boards based on Arduino and RaspberryPi. System configuration, imaging protocols, and Image processing (filtering and stitching) were defined to obtain high-resolution images and for successful computational image reconstruction.

We show, for the first time, radio measurements of the depth of shower maximum (X_{max}) of air showers induced by cosmic rays that are compared to measurements of the established fluorescence method at the same location. Using measurements at the Pierre Auger Observatory we show full compatibility between our radio and the previously published fluorescence dataset, and between a subset of air showers observed simultaneously with both radio and fluorescence techniques, a measurement setup unique to the Pierre Auger Observatory. Furthermore, we show radio X_{max} resolution as a function of energy and demonstrate the ability to make competitive high-resolution X_{max} measurements with even a sparse radio array.

Tetralogy of Fallot (ToF) occurs in about 4 births/1000/year and represents about one tenth of all congenital heart diseases. Nowadays 86% of patients reach adulthood with corrective surgery. Before the 1980s, these patients were treated only with "surgical palliation", which consisted in the creation of a systemic to pulmonary artery shunt or a pulmonary valvulotomy, whereas after the introduction of extracorporeal circulation, corrective surgery is performed electively between 3 and 6 months of life.

Article Synopsis
  • The 2019 Italian Catheter Ablation Registry reported on 15,201 ablation procedures conducted at 91 institutions, mostly for supraventricular arrhythmias.
  • Almost all centers (98%) used a 3D mapping system, and the majority had one electrophysiology lab, with a small percentage having hybrid labs.
  • Atrial fibrillation was the most frequently treated condition (32.9%) and a significant number of procedures (67.4%) utilized a 3D mapping system with a focus on reducing fluoroscopy exposure.

In patients with cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs) (implantable cardioverter-defibrillators [ICDs] and pacemakers [PMs]), the potential risk of suddenly being unable to drive, and hence of causing road accidents, is higher than in the general population. In ICD patients, this risk stems from the possibility that an arrhythmic event leading to loss of consciousness may occur while driving. In PM patients, it may be the result of a device malfunction in a PM-dependent patient.
