Veterinary clients prefer benefit-focused online communication while clinic websites uncommonly communicate benefits of preventive care services.

Objective: To explore client preferences for how value is communicated via written means and to assess the consistency of this preference with how veterinary clinic websites present this information for preventive care services.

Methods: First, a questionnaire was developed to assess clients' preference between 2 researcher-developed paragraphs recommending senior pet screening (one focused on the function of screening, the other on pet benefits of screening) and distributed from August 17 to November 2, 2023. Second, veterinary clinic websites were retrieved with a search engine using predefined search phrases related to 4 preventive care topics (flea and tick prevention, heartworm prevention, dental cleaning, and senior bloodwork).

A machine learning decision criterion for reducing scan time for hyperspectral neutron computed tomography systems.

We present the first machine learning-based autonomous hyperspectral neutron computed tomography experiment performed at the Spallation Neutron Source. Hyperspectral neutron computed tomography allows the characterization of samples by enabling the reconstruction of crystallographic information and elemental/isotopic composition of objects relevant to materials science. High quality reconstructions using traditional algorithms such as the filtered back projection require a high signal-to-noise ratio across a wide wavelength range combined with a large number of projections.

Assessment of owner perceptions of caregiver burden, veterinarian-client relationship and satisfaction with the provider in canine pruritus: An experimental vignette study.

Background: Complicated treatments for skin disease are linked to owner-caregiver burden and poorer perception of the veterinarian-client relationship, regardless of disease severity.

Hypotheses/objectives: Using experimental vignettes, we explored the impact on owner perception of the interaction of treatment complexity and skin disease outcomes. We hypothesised that: (i) vignette conditions involving injection therapy would result in lower burden, better veterinary-client relationship and greater satisfaction relative to multimodal therapy conditions; (ii) the vignette condition of injection therapy with a completely effective outcome would be superior to all other conditions; (iii) ineffective vignette conditions would be inferior to all other conditions; and (iv) the vignette condition injection with a mostly effective outcome would be similar or superior to the multimodal therapy with a completely effective outcome condition.

Recommendation on the technical and dosimetric data to be included in stereotactic body radiation therapy clinical trial publications based on a systematic review.

The results of phase II and III trials on Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT) increased adoption of SBRT worldwide. The ability to replicate clinical trial outcomes in routine practice depends on the capability to reproduce technical and dosimetric procedures used in the clinical trial. In this systematic review, we evaluated if peer-reviewed publications of clinical trials in SBRT reported sufficient technical data to ensure safe and robust implementation in real world clinics.

A Rare Report of Proliferative Fasciitis of the Ear in a Pediatric Patient.

Nodular fasciitis is a relatively uncommon disorder that occurs in soft tissues and results in a rapidly growing mass predominately found in adults. Proliferative fasciitis is a rarer variant of nodular fasciitis that is typically found in adults over age 40 and is extremely rare in pediatric patients. This case report involves a pediatric patient who presented with a large, posterior, rapidly growing mass on the right ear.
