Post-mortem diagnosis of imported malaria in France: a case report.

Background: Malaria is a potentially lethal parasitic disease due to infection by Plasmodium parasites, transmitted by Anopheles mosquito vectors. Various preventative measures may be recommended for travellers who visit endemic areas. The diagnosis is generally evoked in the context of a febrile patient returning from an endemic zone.

Because of their intrinsic biological activity and ubiquitous environmental occurrence, human pharmaceutical compounds have received increasing attention from health and environmental agencies. In the present study, all-female juvenile rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) were exposed to environmentally-realistic concentrations of a mixture of nonsteroidal pharmaceuticals for 42 days, and the effects on plasma levels of sex-steroids and the expression of genes encoding key proteins involved in ovarian development were assessed. Paracetamol, carbamazepine, diclofenac, irbesartan and naproxen were selected, as these have been detected in the Meuse River in Belgium.

Association of homogeneous inflamed gene signature with a better outcome in patients with metastatic melanoma treated with MAGE-A3 immunotherapeutic.

Purpose: This study assessed clinical activity, safety and immunogenicity of MAGE-A3 immunotherapeutic in patients with MAGE-A3-positive metastatic melanoma.

Patients And Methods: In this open-label, multicentre, uncontrolled, Phase II study (ClinicalTrials.gov NCT00896480), patients received ≤24 doses of MAGE-A3 immunotherapeutic (4-cycle schedule).
