A Case of Basal Ganglia Intraparenchymal Hemorrhage Following Lumbar Spinal Surgery.

We report on a rare case of basal ganglia intraparenchymal hemorrhage with intraventricular extension occurring after a lumbar spinal surgery. A 65-year-old female presented for an elective L4-L5 lumbar laminectomy and posterior spinal fixation. Her initial operation was complicated by a cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak repaired with a dural synthetic graft.

The capacity of monoglyceride (MG) gelled emulsions (MEs) in protecting probiotic cells of against stresses suffered during food processing, storage, and human digestion has been recently demonstrated. These findings open new perspectives on the possible participation of probiotics in the stabilization of emulsion structure. To unravel this aspect, rheological analysis and Low-Field H NMR investigations were performed on MEs having different aqueous phases (water or skimmed milk) and stored for increasing time (1 and 14 days) at 4 °C.

Paying attention to the outcome of others' actions has dissociated effects on observer's peripersonal space representation and exploitation.

The representation of peripersonal space (PPS representation) and the selection of motor actions within it (PPS exploitation) are influenced by action outcomes and reward prospects. The present study tested whether observing the outcome of others' actions altered the observer's PPS representation and exploitation. Participants (observers) performed a reachability-judgement task (assessing PPS representation) before and after having observed a confederate (actors) performing a stimuli-selection task on a touch-screen table.
