Background: Insufficient sleep is a problem affecting millions. Poor sleep can trigger or worsen anxiety; conversely, anxiety can lead to or exacerbate poor sleep. Advances in innovative consumer products designed to promote relaxation and support healthy sleep are emerging, and their effectiveness can be evaluated accurately using sleep measurement technologies in the home environment.

Endoscopic Vein Harvest Is Associated with Worse but Improving Outcomes in Infrainguinal Bypass.

Objective: The impact of great saphenous vein harvest technique on infrainguinal bypass outcomes remains a matter of debate, with no robust evidence favoring a specific technique over the other. This study aims to compare the outcomes of open vein harvest with endoscopic vein harvest in patients undergoing infrainguinal bypass surgery.

Methods: Patients who underwent an infrainguinal bypass from a femoral origin using a single-segment great saphenous vein between 2011 and 2023 were identified in the Vascular Quality Initiative infrainguinal bypass module.

Preliminary examination of orexin receptor antagonism with suvorexant in individuals with Methamphetamine use disorder: a case series study.

No FDA-approved medications for methamphetamine (MA) use disorder (MUD) are available. Suvorexant (SUVO), a dual orexin receptor antagonist that is FDA approved for insomnia treatment, reduces MA self-administration and MA-induced reinstatement responding in preclinical studies. SUVO may also reduce MA use by targeting substance use risk factors, including insomnia, stress, cue reactivity, and craving.

A liberalized diet does not improve caloric intake during neutropenia in patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplants: A prospective randomized controlled trial.

Background: The neutropenic diet has been a long-standing approach to preventing infection in patients with hematopoietic stem cell transplants (HSCTs), although data on its efficacy are inconclusive and its restrictive nature might contribute to harm by reducing dietary intake in this patient population who typically experiences poor oral intake. The aim was to determine if a liberalized diet (LD), in comparison with a neutropenic hospital diet (ND), would improve energy intake and lessen weight loss during neutropenia in patients with HSCTs.

Methods: A randomized controlled trial was conducted in a single-center HSCT/hematologic malignancy unit.

Ethics Consultation in U.S. Pediatric Hospitals: Adherence to National Practice Standards.

Background: The American Society for Bioethics and Humanities (ASBH), a professional organization that certifies ethics consultants who pass the qualifying examination, published standards for the conduct of ethics consultations (EC). A national survey of adult hospital ethics consultants identified adherence to these standards, but no assessment of pediatric hospitals' adherence has been done.

Methods: In this cross-sectional study, a national questionnaire was distributed electronically in 2022 to pediatric ethics consultants at children's hospitals, collecting information about adherence to the ASBH standards.
