Vis-NIRS as an auxiliary tool in the classification of bovine carcasses.

This work aimed to evaluate the use of Visible and Near-infrared Spectroscopy (Vis-NIRS) as a tool in the classification of bovine carcasses. A total of 133 animals (77 females, 29 males surgically castrated and 27 males immunologically castrated) were used. Vis-NIRS spectra were collected in a chilling room 24 h postmortem directly on the hanging carcasses over the longissimus thoracis between the surface of the 5th and 6th ribs.

Real world effectiveness, persistence, tolerability, and safety of ofatumumab in clinical practice.

Aims: To describe the 12-month effectiveness, persistence, tolerability, and safety of ofatumumab (OMB), a highly effective disease-modifying therapy (DMT) for relapsing multiple sclerosis (MS), in a real-world MS population.

Patients & Methods: Electronic medical records of patients starting OMB from October 2020 to August 2022 at two comprehensive MS centers were reviewed. Demographics and disease characteristics and 6- and 12-month clinical, patient-reported, and radiologic outcome measures were analyzed.

Histological Changes of the Mucosal Epithelium in the Chicken Intestine during Pre- and Post-Hatching Stages.

This study clarified the histological changes in the mucosal epithelium of the chicken intestine during the pre- and post-hatching stages. The duodenum, jejunum, ileum, and colorectum were collected from embryos at 15, 17, 18, 19, and 21 days of incubation and from chicks at 1 and 3 days after hatching. Paraffin sections prepared from tissue samples were stained with periodic acid-Schiff followed by alcian blue for histological analysis and to detect goblet cells.

COVID-19 Provider Relief Funds Distribution by Hospital Characteristics.

This study assessed the distribution of Covid Provider Relief Funds (PRFs) to 3,886 private and public general acute care hospitals during 2020-2022. Marginal effects from two-part regression were analyzed. More than 13% of study hospitals did not receive PRFs.

Antimicrobial use in animal farms in Egypt: rates, patterns, and determinants.

Background: While antimicrobial use (AMU) in human healthcare has received significant attention as a key driver of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), less emphasis has been placed on AMU practices and attitudes in animal husbandry. To address this gap, this study examines the patterns and underlying drivers of AMU on animal farms.

Methods: A survey instrument was distributed to farm staff in 150 animal farms across 15 Egyptian governorates.
