Purpose: The light adjustable lens (LAL) (RxSight, Aliso Viejo, CA) is a premium intraocular lens that allows for correction of residual refractive error and astigmatism following implantation. Herein, we describe the surgical approach and evaluate the visual outcomes of patients following scleral fixation of the LAL.

Methods: Retrospective, single-surgeon surgical case series of 3 patients (3 eyes) with intraocular lens complications, who underwent combined pars plana vitrectomy and sutureless needle assisted intrascleral haptic fixation of the LAL between April 2022, to August 2023.

Botulinum neurotoxins (BoNTs) rank among the most potent toxins and many of them are produced by bacteria carrying the orfX gene cluster that also encodes four nontoxic proteins (OrfX1, OrfX2, OrfX3 and P47). The orfX gene cluster is also found in the genomes of many non-BoNT-producing bacteria, often alongside genes encoding oral insecticidal toxins. However, the functions of these OrfXs and P47 remain elusive.

We introduce a protocol for spatial proteomics using thin cryotome sections of mouse skeletal muscle tissue. We describe steps for preparing muscle sections and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) analyses to generate spatial protein profiles along the longitudinal skeletal muscle axis. We detail procedures for scanning longitudinal protein profiles and replacing missing data using a sliding window approach.

Introduction: Unstable pelvic fractures cause significant bleeding, morbidity, and mortality. Commercially available Pelvic Circumferential Compression Devices (PCCDs) are used in the initial resuscitation and management of these cases. In the trauma-burdened, resource limited setting of Southern Africa, the available alternative is a pelvic sheet binder (PSB).
