[Correlation of clinico-neurological peculiarities and morphological signs of small hernias (protrusion) of the lumbar intervertebral discs in formation of discogenic pain syndromes in patients of different age].

Morphological signs of small hernias (protrusion) of intervertebral discs (IVD), the results of a neurovisualizing methods of investigation and clinico-neurological features of osteochondrosis as well, were summarized. In young and middle age patients morphological chatacteristics of small hernias (protrusion) of IVD, data of neurovisualizing methods of investigation have had correlated with clinico-neurological features of the disease and were the key determinants while performance of the puncture laser microdiscectomy. In a middle age and elderly patients a weak correlation was noted between the IVD protrusion dimensions and intensity of a lumbar and radicular pain syndromes, functional activity (Osvestry index), what have had permitted to apply a pathogenetically substantiated method of a durable epidural pharmacotherapy.

[Epidural pharmacotherapy in the treatment of the pain syndrome in osteochondrosis complicated by intervertebral discs protrusion of lumbar part of the vertebral column].

Experience of application of intralaminar epidural pharmacotherapy for the treatment of the pain syndrome in the patients, suffering osteochondrosis of lumbar portion of vertebral column, complicated by intervertebral discs protrusion, was summarized. The method introduction permits to escape the operative intervention performance for complicated osteochondrosis.

[Morphological changes of the intervertebral disks of the spine caudal portion in rats after permanent and temporary asymmetric compression-distension].

In the experiment on 44 rats, histological peculiarities of tissue injury and repair were studied in the segments of caudal spine after long-term permanent and temporary (with the subsequent tale relaxation) asymmetric compression-distension (ASCD). Permanent ASCD of the tail was found to result in a complex of structural changes that were rather stable and did not disappear completely after ASCD discontinuation and a long-term relaxation. These changes included necrosis of the annulus fibrosus (AF) cells, tension of AF lamellae and their separation from epiphyses on the distension side, crushing and splitting of AF collagen lamellae on the side of compression and chondrocyte proliferation around necrotic foci, increase of necrotic notochordal cells number in nucleus pulposus (NP).

[Peculiarities of the microsurgical discectomy for hernia of the low-lumbar vertebral column].

There were analyzed the results of observation in 642 patients with hernia of low-lumbar vertebral column, who were examined and operated on using microdiscectomy in the Department of endoscopic and laser spinal neurosurgery of Institute of Neurosurgery of Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine. There were delineated the indications for the methods of treatment, their efficacy was estimated, the immediate and late follow-up results of treatment were studied up. In one year after the medial hernia correction the persistent elimination of radicular compression syndrome was achieved in 86.
