The properties of planar sensors based on tin dioxide and indium oxide used for the determination of acetone vapors have been studied. Sensors based on synthesized SnO and InO nanopowders showed high sensitivity to low concentrations of acetone in a humid environment which simulates human exhalation. The addition of a small amount of Au ions to hydroxide sols significantly increases the threshold sensitivity and the sensor response in a wide range of acetone concentrations.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe defect structure and phase formation processes occurring in the bulk and on the surface of titanium carbide (TiC) under thermal treatment in different ambient atmospheres (air, hydrogen, vacuum) were characterized using XRD, SEM, EPR, XPS and IR-spectroscopy. The oxidized states of both titanium (TiO ) and carbon, in the form of carbonate-carboxylate structures (O-C[double bond, length as m-dash]O), were found on the surface of untreated TiC. Carbon vacancies were detected as paramagnetic defects in the crystalline lattice of TiC.

Background: The influence of the executive function and working memory on treatment adherence in older men with BPH has not been studied enough.
Objective: To determine the level of influence of various factors on the treatment adherence in older men with BPH.
Aim: The present study was a comparison of the validity of the Medication Adherence Self-Report Inventory (MASRI) questionnaire with other methods of assessing adherence to antimuscarinic drugs treatment in older patients with urge incontinence.
Methods: The experiment involved 733 men and women aged >65 years who had noted no less than one urge incontinence episode per day. At the beginning of the experiment, and after 4, 8 and 12 weeks, their adherence to treatment was monitored using the MASRI.
This study investigated the effect of socio-economic status (SES) on health-related quality of life (HRQoL) among persons with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The data were collected by way of surveying persons with BPH aged from 35 to 85 (937) and selected via random sample. The diagnosis was confirmed with the use of I-PSS questionnaires (8-19 points), OABq-AT (≥8 points) and daily urinations.
