This study investigates the ecotoxicological effects of BDE-209, a persistent organic pollutant (POP), prevalent in Kuwait's coastal-industrial zones, on meiofaunal communities. A mesocosm experiment was conducted, exposing sediment-dwelling meiofaunal communities from sediments near Failaka Island (Kuwait) to gradient concentrations of BDE-209 (0.01-20 mg/kg) over a 4-week period.

Background: The role of axillary surgery in breast cancer has shifted over time from a therapeutic operation to a staging method for subsequent adjuvant therapies, through the introduction of sentinel lymph node biopsy. The discovery of molecular subtypes has since questioned the necessity of axillary staging in breast cancer.

Methods: The INT09/98 randomized trial explored the omission of axillary surgery in early-stage breast cancer in patients under 65 years of age.

Background: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a frequent complication in critically ill patients, who often have multiple risk factors. Pharmacological thromboprophylaxis is widely applied to lower this risk, but guidelines lack dosing recommendations.

Objective: This survey aims to assess current thromboprophylaxis preferences and willingness to participate in future randomized clinical trials (RCTs) on this topic.

Background: Migraine prevalence is estimated to be 15% (approximately 50 million people) in the United States, posing a significant burden on the health care system and a top cause of years lived with disability. Consequently, migraine leads to increased work-related disability, including presenteeism and absenteeism. Novel prophylactic treatments for migraine that target the calcitonin gene-related peptide pathway, including monoclonal antibodies to the calcitonin gene-related peptide ligand or the calcitonin gene-related peptide receptor (calcitonin gene-related peptide monoclonal antibodies) and gepants, offer new options for migraine prevention.

This Letter presents a search for highly ionizing magnetic monopoles in 262  μb^{-1} of ultraperipheral Pb+Pb collision data at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.36  TeV collected by the ATLAS detector at the LHC. A new methodology that exploits the properties of clusters of hits reconstructed in the innermost silicon detector layers is introduced to study highly ionizing particles in heavy-ion data.
