Despite decades of environmental reform, legacy lead is a persistent health hazard within communities. Secondary prevention with screening for childhood lead exposure typically occurs at the 12-month and 24-month well visits, and early identification of toxicity is of vital importance to reduce morbidity and mortality. Over the past few years, there have been multiple challenges impacting the management of lead toxicity, including the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic, a national shortage of the chelation agent CaNa2EDTA, and housing-related concerns that may result in re-exposure of lead before lead abatement.

Simultaneous quantification of glutathione, glutathione disulfide and glutathione-S-sulfonate in grape and wine using LC-MS/MS.

A fast, sensitive and reproducible method using LC-MS/MS for simultaneous quantification of glutathione (GSH), glutathione disulfide (GSSG) and glutathione-S-sulfonate (GSSOH) was developed, optimised and applied in analysis of grape juice and wine samples. The results show that only GSH (10-60 mg·L) and GSSG (2-11 mg·L) are found in grape juice when SO is not added. GSSOH was detected in must samples treated with SO but only at a low concentration (<1 mg L).

Acute Tramadol Ingestion With Transient Acute Kidney Injury in an Adolescent Female.

Renal toxicity has been described with tramadol overdoses; however, it is typically associated with rhabdomyolysis, multiorgan failure and/or mortality. Our patient was a 16-year-old female who was evaluated following an intentional tramadol ingestion, estimated 27.8 to 37 mg/kg, and had a seizure prior to arriving at our health care facility.
