Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) have emerged as a powerful tool in artificial intelligence, particularly for unsupervised learning. This systematic review analyzes GAN applications in healthcare, focusing on image and signal-based studies across various clinical domains. Following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, we reviewed 72 relevant journal articles.

Article Synopsis
  • - This study explores how manipulating whiskers during early development affects adult learning and memory, focusing on tactile stimulation (TS) and spatial memory in rats.
  • - Four groups of Wistar albino male rats underwent different treatments: control, whisker trimming, tactile stimulation, and a combination of both, with results assessed using an 8-arm radial maze test.
  • - Findings showed that tactile stimulation negatively impacted spatial memory and neuronal density in the hippocampus, suggesting that early sensory deprivation can trigger learning through moderate stress, while excessive TS may disrupt normal development and materal care.

Article Synopsis
  • Multiple pulmonary nodules can arise from either benign or malignant processes, with metastasis being a primary concern in patients with a known primary cancer.
  • Differentiating between the causes of these nodules is complicated, as metastatic nodules can resemble those from infections, inflammation, and rare benign diseases.
  • Radiological features, along with clinical and laboratory findings, play a crucial role in distinguishing between metastatic and non-metastatic causes of multiple pulmonary nodules, which is essential for accurate diagnosis and treatment.

Purpose: Metabolic and bariatric surgery (MBS) is often considered to be associated with macro- and micronutrient deficiency. A possible treatment option can be the implementation of pancreatic enzyme replacement (PERT) and may lead to better outcomes. We designed a prospective trial investigating the possible impact of PERT in patients undergoing MBS at a high-volume center.
