Clinical outcomes of selective removal to soft dentin versus firm dentin for deep caries lesions: a randomized controlled trial up to 5 years.

Objectives: This study aimed to compare the success of selective removal to soft dentine (SRSD) with or without calcium silicate (CS) and selective removal to firm dentine (SRFD) in permanent dentition.

Materials And Methods: Between November 2018 and March 2020, 165 posterior deep caries lesions in 134 patients were included in the study and randomly assigned into test (n = 101) and control (n = 64) groups. The control group (n = 46) received the treatment of SRFD with CS, while the test group was further randomized into two groups to receive SRSD with CS (n = 45) and SRSD without CS (n = 45).

Exploring the GSTP1 inhibition potential of photosensitizer compounds for enhanced cancer treatment in photodynamic therapy.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has gained considerable attention in cancer treatment due to its non-invasive nature and the ability of photosensitizers to generate reactive oxygen species upon light activation, leading to tumor destruction. Glutathione S-transferase P1 (GSTP1) is a key enzyme in chemotherapy resistance, often overexpressed in various cancers, and its inhibition of GSTP1 presents a promising strategy to enhance cancer treatment. This study is aimed at assessing the potential of prominent photosensitizers as GSTP1 inhibitors through molecular docking analysis to strengthen the efficacy of PDT.

This review focuses on the coexistence of tinnitus and temporomandibular disorders in terms of epidemiological data, etiology, differential diagnosis, treatment, and interaction between the two disorders. PubMed, Google Scholar, and ClinicalKey digital databases were used to search for publications covering the years 2009-2024. Finally, 77 publications were used.

Temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) encompass various clinical conditions associated with the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and the masticatory muscles. TMD symptoms include pain in the orofacial region, restricted or altered mandibular movement, and sounds associated with the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). This condition adversely affects quality of life, social functioning, and daily activities, and may also contribute to widespread pain syndromes and comorbidities, including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

Artificial intelligence for dental implant classification and peri-implant pathology identification in 2D radiographs: A systematic review.

Objective: This systematic review aimed to summarize and evaluate the available information regarding the performance of artificial intelligence on dental implant classification and peri-implant pathology identification in 2D radiographs.

Data Sources: Electronic databases (Medline, Embase, and Cochrane) were searched up to September 2024 for relevant observational studies and both randomized and controlled clinical trials. The search was limited to studies published in English from the last 7 years.
