: The diagnosis and follow-up of cardiac involvement in Fabry disease constitutes an important challenge for clinicians caring for affected patients. Combining cardiac imaging with laboratory biomarkers appears most appropriate for longitudinal monitoring. Therefore, we examined the use of NT-proBNP and its association with imaging findings in patients with Fabry disease.

Regenerative agricultural practice adoption on conventionally managed fields has gained momentum as a climate mitigation strategy, given the ability of these practices to sequester carbon or reduce greenhouse gas emissions. However, the geospatial and temporal variability of the impact of specific practices, such as cover cropping or no-till, pose challenges for scalable quantification of emissions reduction and deploying incentives to drive increased adoption. To quantify impact while accounting for variability and uncertainty at scale, Indigo Ag created a monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) pipeline to produce agricultural soil carbon credits produced at large scales (hundreds of thousands of hectares).

Article Synopsis
  • State-of-the-art cloud computing platforms like Google Earth Engine (GEE) enhance the process of mapping land cover changes globally using machine learning, but high-quality training data for accurate mapping is still expensive and labor-heavy.
  • To solve this, we developed a global database with nearly 2 million training units from 1984 to 2020, covering seven main and nine secondary land cover classes, using GEE and machine learning for quality and representation.
  • Our database, which includes diverse datasets and reflects regional land characteristics, is useful for various fields, including land cover change studies, agriculture, forestry, hydrology, and urban development.

Coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering and low-mass dark matter detectors rely crucially on the understanding of their response to nuclear recoils. We report the first observation of a nuclear recoil peak at around 112 eV induced by neutron capture. The measurement was performed with a CaWO_{4} cryogenic detector from the NUCLEUS experiment exposed to a ^{252}Cf source placed in a compact moderator.

The herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1) virion host shut-off (vhs) protein cleaves both cellular and viral mRNAs by a translation-initiation-dependent mechanism, which should spare circular RNAs (circRNAs). Here, we show that vhs-mediated degradation of linear mRNAs leads to an enrichment of circRNAs relative to linear mRNAs during HSV-1 infection. This was also observed in influenza A virus (IAV) infection, likely due to degradation of linear host mRNAs mediated by the IAV PA-X protein and cap-snatching RNA-dependent RNA polymerase.
