Affinity binding assay of glycohemoglobin by two-dimensional centrifugation referenced to hemoglobin A1c.

We describe an automated assay of glycohemoglobin performed with the Abbott Vision analyzer. The assay is based on batch affinity-extraction with 3-aminophenylboronic acid-derivatized agarose beads. Reagents are packaged in a disposable test pack.

Hydrophilic fluorescein derivatives: useful reagents for liposome immunolytic assays.

Hydrophilic derivatives of fluorescein containing hydroxyalkyl substituents were synthesized and encapsulated within liposomes. The fluorophores showed significantly more retention with time than did fluorescein, carboxyfluorescein, or calcein. Unlike calcein, the fluorophores are minimally susceptible to fluorescence quenching by Co2+.

The redox properties and heme environment of cytochrome c-551.5 from Desulfuromonas acetoxidans.

The environment of the three heme groups in cytochrome c-551.5 from Desulfuromonas acetoxidans was investigated by the technique of solvent perturbation difference spectroscopy. The hemeoctapeptide from cytochrome c plus added imidazole was used as a model compound for the fully exposed chromophore.
